2009 June 13th Sprint adventure race Lac Beauchamp

The Sprint Adventure Racing is accessible to all levels of experience from beginner to expert. It is the ideal format to try adventure racing and to get a taste of this great sport.

Location  : in the wooded and hilly area of Parc du lac Beauchamp in Gatineau (a 15 minutes drive from downtown Ottawa).

Trekking  ~ 5 Km
Paddling ~ 5 Km
Mountain biking   ~ 15 Km

All through the race, teams must navigate with a map and compass to get to the various check points and complete the course. The level of difficulty is accessible to all. If you can find the North with your compass you will be ok!

There will also be an advanced run for teams that are looking for a bigger challenge. Generally, less than 10% of the teams will make it to the advanced course.

Paddle rental: Simon River Sports (SRS) , a company well know for high performance nautical products such as kayaks and paddles, For participants wishing to try out SRS products, a low cost rental program will be available with the possibility of applying rental cost to an eventual purchase if desired.

Camping: For teams that wish to arrive during the evening preceding the race, it is possible to camp at the headquarter for 5$ per person.

Congratulations to all participants for a great race. Even though the weather forecast was bleak we finally had nice weather for the event. The wind rose up early afternoon which made the paddling section more of a challenge. All teams managed to complete the full course. The race ended with a surprising and refreshing special event.

A big thanks to the people of Parc du lac Beauchamp who provided us with a lot of support for the organization of this event.

It would simply be impossible to organize such an event without the enthusiastic participation of numerous volunteers; a special thanks goes out to all of them for their contribution to making this race a great success.
